As in Type A. A-place-for-everything-and-everything-in-it’s-place organization. That’s the ticket for Miss Betsy Alice Everett. A disorganized space actually hurts the girl’s eyes.
So Betsy was thrilled when volunteers from a church in Avon, Indiana, who were here volunteering for flood recovery (yes, dammit, it’s still going on) had a little spare time and helped organize the school supply giveaway. These were the most cheerful people I’ve ever seen and I wish I had snapped a photo of them. Here they come all the way from Indiana to work in a sweltering warehouse and they just smiled the whole time. The Lord loves a cheerful giver. So now we are organized for next week’s giveaway, aimed at making sure no child falls through the cracks and returns to school without the tools to succeed.
And I can report to you that about 10 minutes into the giveaway Betsy will be apoplectic because all that organization will be completely ruined. It happens every giveaway. I try to be sympathetic.
